This will be Jennifer’s second visit to Perrot; she previously shared with us her 2005 book, Savage Summit: The True Stories of the First Five Women Who Climbed K2, the World’s Most Feared Mountain.

Stop in on a summer Tuesday with the kids to see the year-long exhibit (ending November 2010); EAT OR BE EATEN at our local excellently eclectic museum – the BRUCE.

The fascinating and sometimes bizarre adaptations of predators and prey in the natural world is the focus of the year-long exhibition Eat or Be Eaten: Animal Survival Strategies. In the complex web of life, animals have evolved a variety of strategies that help them find food and avoid becoming someone else’s meal in the struggle for survival. Over 70 specimens of insects, shells, fish, reptiles, mammals, and birds from the Bruce Museum collection illustrate how animals detect, capture and consume prey while minimizing risk from predators.

Take a Tromp Through the Swamp and a Break by the Lake with Tom Sieling. Tom returns to Greenwich Library following last summer’s wonderful show. His performances are VERY participatory, fun, lively and informative. Sieling writes and performs songs for children and adults and he accompanies himself on guitar, banjo, harmonica and a drum machine and all songs include parts for the whole family. The program is free and open to all ages. No tickets required. Doors open at 6:45 pm on Tuesday July 27th in the Cole Auditorium.

Gunsmoke, the award winning country band, will be in concert on Wednesday, July 28, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park. The rain date is the next day Thursday July 29.

Gunsmoke hails from Fairfield County and was formed in 1982. The New York Metro Country Music Association has named the band Band of the Year six years in a row. Gunsmoke plays new country hits from the likes of Garth Brooks, George Strait and Alan Jackson. They also draw from the many styles they were raised on like Bob Wills swing, son of the pioneer trail songs Ray Price shuffles, Buck Owens twang, and Eddie Arnold classics to provide the audience with a diversified night of music. Gunsmoke is the band that entertained for President Bush when he visited Greenwich.

Bring a picnic dinner, blanket and the family to enjoy a wonderful concert under the stars. This event is free and open to the public.
