Gunsmoke, the award winning country band, will be in concert on Wednesday, July 28, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park. The rain date is the next day Thursday July 29.

Gunsmoke hails from Fairfield County and was formed in 1982. The New York Metro Country Music Association has named the band Band of the Year six years in a row. Gunsmoke plays new country hits from the likes of Garth Brooks, George Strait and Alan Jackson. They also draw from the many styles they were raised on like Bob Wills swing, son of the pioneer trail songs Ray Price shuffles, Buck Owens twang, and Eddie Arnold classics to provide the audience with a diversified night of music. Gunsmoke is the band that entertained for President Bush when he visited Greenwich.

Bring a picnic dinner, blanket and the family to enjoy a wonderful concert under the stars. This event is free and open to the public.

The Choir of LIchfield Cathedral, England will present a free concert at Christ Church Greenwich on Saturday, April 10 at 7:30 PM.

This Choir of Men and Boys continues the centuries’ old tradition of leading daily worship plus outside engagements in Europe and North America.

The choir will sing works by Byrd, Gibbons, Vaughn Williams, Weelkes, Finzi and Hadley.

Isabelle Demers, former organ scholar at Christ Church Greenwich and doctoral candidate at the Juilliard School will play a concert of organ music by Bach, Howells, Laurin, Bridge and Reger on Friday, March 12 at Christ Church Greenwich. Ms. Demers will provide commentary on each piece played. A large screen will allow the audience to watach the artist’s hands and feet throughout the concert. A freewill collection will be taken to support the 2009-2010 organ recital series, held the 2^nd Friday of each month. A reception will follow in the Family Room of the Church. Description: The Klezmatics are globally-renowned world music superstars and the only klezmer band to win a Grammy award. The Klezmatics emerged out of the vibrant cultural scene of New York City’s East Village in 1986 with klezmer steeped in Eastern European Jewish tradition and spirituality; focusing on contemporary themes such as human rights, anti-fundamentalism and eclectic musical influences including Arab, African, Latin and Balkan rhythms, jazz and punk. In the course of over twenty years and nine albums they have stubbornly continued making music that is wild, mystical, provocative, reflective and ecstatically danceable. This program is sponsored by the Peterson Concert Series.

Description: The Musicians from Marlboro return to Greenwich Library with a new group of esteemed performers, which for the first time will feature two vocalists. The touring extension of the renowned Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont will appear as part of the Friends of Greenwich Library’s Cole Concert Series.
Five musicians and two concert singers will perform the works of Franz Joseph Hayden, Robert Schumann and Bela Bartok.
The concert is free and open to the public through the support of the Friends of Greenwich Library.

Description: The Tessera Quartet is one of the most exciting chamber ensembles currently emerging on the concert scene.
The quartet will present “You’re the Composer.” Children will stand in the composer’s shoes and make decisions that composers make such as which accompaniment goes with the melody, should it be fast or slow, loud or soft. The music the audience helps create will then be compared to pieces by such composers as Sibelius and Mendelssohn.
The Ashforth Children’s Concert Series is designed to expose children to classical and jazz music performance.
The 45-minute long show is appropriate for elementary school children. Pick up free, unassigned seating tickets at the Cole Auditorium at noon, and return when doors open at 1:50 pm.
