Did you ever wonder why stone walls are a recurring visual motif throughout the town of Greenwich? On March 23 at 1:00 pm, The Greenwich Land Trust and the Greenwich Historical Society will join forces for an educational program on the historical significance of these rough-cut gems. Presenters Dan Barrett, Environmental Director of the Greenwich Land Trust and Anne Young, archivist at the Greenwich Historical Society, will talk about the variety of walls throughout town, including how they evolved and why they became such an important part of the town’s landscape. Following the lecture, participants will take a walk on one of the Land Trust’s preserves in back country Greenwich to explore the geology and history embodied in these iconic walls. Fred N. Durante, Jr., Inc. is a generous sponsor of this program. Admission is free, but donations to either sponsoring organization are encouraged. Reservations are required and number of participants will be limited. Location information provided at time of registration.

Description: The Klezmatics are globally-renowned world music superstars and the only klezmer band to win a Grammy award. The Klezmatics emerged out of the vibrant cultural scene of New York City’s East Village in 1986 with klezmer steeped in Eastern European Jewish tradition and spirituality; focusing on contemporary themes such as human rights, anti-fundamentalism and eclectic musical influences including Arab, African, Latin and Balkan rhythms, jazz and punk. In the course of over twenty years and nine albums they have stubbornly continued making music that is wild, mystical, provocative, reflective and ecstatically danceable.
