Now that it’s warming up, our minds turn to summer vacation. What will you be doing? I generally don’t use this forum to review books, but one in particular came across my desk and I have to share it with you.
Are you high on wanderlust but low on funds? Do you yearn to “do more” “volunteer more,” “learn more,” or just plum get more out of a vacation? Can you travel for practically nothing or even get paid to do it?
I discovered that the answer to all of the above is YES by reading Sheryl Kayne’s Immersion Travel USA. She offers “The best and most meaningful volunteering, living and learning excursions” available in the USA.
Here’s one example: patient, responsible and big-hearted folks over 21 can sign up to be a group leaders for Sprout Vacation Programs. Help take small groups of adults with low to moderate mental retardation on 3 to 7 day trips across the country. Not only are all of your expenses paid, but you get a small stipend, too.
There are hundreds of ideas in this great book – so find it, borrow it, buy it – and your vacations will never be the same again.
Hi! Thanks so much for including my books, IMMERSION TRAVEL USA and VOLUNTEER VACATIONS ACROSS AMERICA on your great website! Living so close by in the Westport/Weston area, I’m always interested in seeing your Greenwich and Stamford features! They are great! Immersion and volunteer vacations are the best way to see new places, connect with the locals, and give back. Happy Trails!
