You Don’t Need the Biggest Bucks to Shop at Peacock and Beale; Some Affordable Recommendations

I know that the Peacock and Beale space used to be Button – but way, way, way back when I was a youngun, it was Outdoor Traders.  Pre REI, Pre EMS, Outdoor Traders was THE place to go for all those, well, outdoor type endeavors. Now, ironically, the building holds purveyors of INDOOR goods; specifically the lux home goods shop Peacock and Beale.  I recently popped in to discover that amongst the thousand plus dollar new and antique furniture and one-of-a-kind nick-nacks there are some nice seasonal gifts for under $20.  I liked the cream-colored onyx tea-light votives that cast a mellow glow ($18) and the wonderful-smelling white pine sapplings – roots snuggled in a small burlap bag ready for transfer – to enjoy inside in winter and plant in the spring ($19.95).
